Medical Travel Coordination and Visa Guidance for China

Start with the clinical plan and the entry rules

A hospital appointment and permission to enter China are separate matters. Confirm the purpose of the visit, the receiving department and the records needed for assessment. Then check the entry route for your passport, intended activities, complete itinerary and expected stay with the relevant Chinese embassy, consulate or immigration authority.

Do not buy a medical travel package on the assumption that every patient qualifies for the same visa-free route. An appointment request is not a confirmed treatment plan, and an institution's acceptance is not an immigration approval.

    What coordination may cover

Agree the actual services and deliverables in writing before payment. Depending on the agreed scope, administrative coordination may include organising records, sending appointment questions, arranging interpretation, and checking local transport or arrival instructions. Ask who provides each service, what is included, the separate fees and which payment recipient applies under the current terms.

Written translation, interpreting during a clinical conversation and help finding a department are different services. Specify the language and the point of the visit where help is needed. A coordinator can relay instructions and organise records; diagnosis, test selection, treatment, prescribing and fitness to travel remain clinical decisions.

    Check the appropriate entry route

Route to discuss with the authority What needs checking
National visa-free arrangements Your nationality and passport type, permitted purpose, applicable stay and current conditions; do not assume medical travel is covered by every arrangement
Hainan regional visa-free entry The NIA lists 61 eligible nationalities for stays of up to 30 days within Hainan; its regional guidance includes medical treatment among permitted short-term purposes
Visa-free transit The NIA lists 57 eligible nationalities for the 240-hour transit policy; a qualifying journey to a third country or region, eligible ports and permitted areas are required
A visa application Ask the consulate which category and documents apply to the actual purpose; S2 is a private-matters category, not automatic eligibility for every medical visitor

Hainan permission does not by itself permit travel elsewhere in mainland China. Transit is not a substitute for a return itinerary that fails its third-country-or-region condition. Nationality alone does not establish eligibility. Confirm the precise route before committing to flights or treatment dates.

Document support is not visa issuance

Within the confirmed service scope, PriumCare can assist in obtaining medical invitation letters and other supporting materials from the receiving hospital. Ask what help is included and what the institution requires. This administrative assistance does not decide the application.

The hospital issues its own medical invitation letter; PriumCare does not sign as the hospital or guarantee visa approval. Do not assume that coordination includes submitting a visa application on your behalf. If the consulate requests a hospital letter, acceptance record or medical evidence, ask the relevant institution what it can truthfully issue and ask the consulate whether that document meets its requirements. An estimate or appointment confirmation is not automatically an invitation letter.

The applicant follows the consulate's instructions, personally or through a provider the consulate permits. The authority decides the visa and admission. If the planned care changes, ask the authority about the next steps before relying on a longer stay; a hospital document does not extend an entry permission by itself.

    Questions patients ask

Does an appointment qualify me for visa-free entry?

No. Check the passport, purpose, route and stay conditions independently. A confirmed appointment does not replace them.

Is Hainan visa-free entry valid for treatment in Beijing or Shanghai?

The regional Hainan permission is limited to Hainan. Ask the authority about a separate valid route before planning onward travel to the mainland outside Hainan.

Can PriumCare help obtain a hospital invitation?

Yes, where included in the confirmed service scope, we can assist in obtaining materials from the hospital. The hospital remains the issuer. This does not guarantee a visa or establish that we submit the application for you.

Does coordination replace medical advice during the trip?

No. Ask the treating clinician about test preparation, medicines, recovery and fitness to travel. Agree who will handle pending results and follow-up before departure.
